About Me
Meredith (Meri) Johnson - she/her/hers
I am a fifth-year student at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) pursuing a double major in Voice Performance and Music Education, emphasizing Choral and General Music. My primary instrument is soprano voice, although I also have many years of experience playing viola and violin. While in college, I have done a lot of performances and research in the world of music. Most recently, I have performed as "Galatea" in the 2024 Spring Opera Acis and Galatea by George Frederic Handel. Currently, I am in the process of putting together a senior voice recital for Spring 2025 titled "Her Voice: Her Vision" which is a researched recital of art songs composed only by female presenting composers. I have strong leadership experience including serving as section leader in various ensembles and working as a Resident Assistant for my residence hall for three years. I also have gained teaching experience not only through practicum placements through my time at UWSP, but also through teaching private voice and piano lessons to students of all ages and abilities. I am set to graduate with my bachelor's degrees in December 2025. I aspire to be a high school choral director position that aligns with my values as an individual. My goal as a choral director is not only to provide all of my students a safe space in and out of my classroom, but also to encourage learning about world cultures and give students an opportunity to unleash their inner creativity as they to appreciate all kinds of music. When students eventually leave my classroom, I hope that they all continue to keep music in their lives in a way that is personal to them, and that they have a lifelong relationship and connection to music.
